The Samara District Court of Samara is considering the case of a former police officer, Kirill Chuprov, who is suspected of taking bribes for leaking classified information (clause “a”, clause “c”, part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to Kommersant’s information, the ex-policeman may have been involved in disclosing information from the Search-Magistral database, which could have been used in an investigation into the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

According to the Samara District Court of Samara, the next hearing on the case will take place on December 23. The previous meeting was postponed due to the absence of witnesses.

Earlier it was reported about the criminal case against Kirill Chuprov on abuse of office (part 3 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The trial was held behind closed doors.

The database “Search-Magistral” contains information about all trips by regular transport modes. According to Kommersant’s information, the security officer gave out the necessary information about the right person for a fee.

In December last year, an investigation was published, which spoke of the alleged involvement of FSB officers in the alleged poisoning of the oppositionist. In January, the politician returned to Russia after being treated in Germany; he was detained at the airport. The oppositionist is now serving time in a colony in the Vladimir region on a case of fraud and legalization of criminal funds.
