A mass procession on the occasion of the presidential elections in Russia took place in the Chechen capital – Grozny on the initiative of the first deputy head of the administration of the president and the government of Chechnya Khadija Kadyrova.

According to the authorities, more than 150,000 people took part in the demonstration, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

Residents from all corners of the republic gathered in the capital and marched from “Minutka” square to the central square of Grozny. Demonstrators carried placards and banners calling for participation in the presidential elections in Russia. Due to the mass gathering of people, some of the streets in the Chechen capital were closed, reported a TASS reporter.

The procession, which was led by the older children of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, culminated in a concert and speeches by representatives of the public, clergy and authorities.

“We are here at the call of the respected Khadija Kadyrova. Today, residents of almost all settlements in the Chechen Republic, all cities and regions, representatives of all religions and nationalities take part in this demonstration. Our procession reflects the fact that we are united followers of our first president, the hero of Russia, Akhmat Hadji Kadyrov,” noted Chechen Minister of National Policy, Foreign Relations, Media and Information Ahmed Dudayev in his greeting.
