A large fire broke out at noon (Wednesday) at a leather factory in the center of Jerusalem. Many fire brigades are working on the scene trying to gain control of the fire. Due to the fear that the fire would spread, maternity hospitals at the Bikur Holim Medical Center were evacuated, as were the residents of the hostel located near the plant. In addition, streets in the area were blocked to traffic. The factory, owned by an ultra-Orthodox group, was apparently completely burned down.

The Fire and Rescue Department stated that 9 teams of firefighters who were rushed to the scene on Agan Street in the capital, detected a fire in a one-story building, including in the tiled roof.

Shaare Zedek Hospital informed following the fire that broke out in the buildings adjacent to the patient visit campus, that there was no damage to the building, the infrastructure and of course the patients hospitalized there. As a precautionary measure for the female patients, it was decided to move them to the Shaarei Zedek building temporarily.
