Planting hardwoods or conifers in the city reduces pollution, improves biodiversity but also has refreshing properties.
Among the environmental policies of cities, planting trees is a promising choice to mitigate the effects of global warming. It is enough, in this particularly hot return to school, to take shelter under a leafy tree or a conifer in a street or a square to appreciate their role of parasol and their cooling power. Virtues confirmed by a study with an evocative name, Cooltrees, funded by the National Research Agency, in which the INRAE of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and the University of Clermont-Ferrand participated. This measured the air conditioner role played by trees in urbanized spaces.
