“In the training courses, the rules are taught and very little is touched on the problem of the processes that develop in road traffic, because the rules are implemented in conditions of high speeds. There one has to precisely dose one’s speed in order to pass safely. The training lacks training and a variety of situations that a person must perceive”. This is what the former director of the Traffic Police and current advisor to the Minister of the Interior, Alexi Kesyakov, told bTV.

“It is no coincidence that in some countries, after training, new drivers go through special driving ranges, where they acquire skills on how to drive on a slippery section, a sudden obstacle, etc. If they don’t go to this training ground, they take away their documents,” Kesyakov added.

Alexi Kesyakov singled out several reasons for the accidents involving young drivers. “Young people want to prove themselves, overestimate their capabilities and drive at speeds and in a way that does not match their capabilities, without knowing the real dangers,” he said.

According to him, road behavior starts at home. If a person violates other rules, he also violates the traffic.

“We see the training of future drivers as a starting point for traffic safety, and he is not from there. It starts from the birth of the child, his upbringing, his training. It enters with a certain mentality and leaves with the same driver’s license. His attitude towards society cannot be changed in the training courses,” said the former traffic police chief.

According to him, the most important thing is to consider ourselves and the specific situation on the road.

“When we carry passengers we have to be careful because there are 400 more women passengers than men. Men, when you transport your wives and children, keep them safe. I recommend all viewers to correct their behavior on the road. It’s wet now, it will be foggy, be careful and don’t rush, because you risk your life,” urged Alexi Kesyakov.
