by time news

The police in the Khabarovsk Territory opened a criminal case against a local resident who equipped a mining farm on the territory of a timber processing enterprise, according to the website of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is charged with causing property damage (part 2 of article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) due to unmetered electricity consumption. The damage to the energy supply organization is estimated at 2.75 million rubles.

According to the department, in March last year, a representative of one of the energy supply companies in Khabarovsk turned to the police with a statement about the theft of electricity. Operational activities were carried out by employees of the police department for economic security and anti-corruption, as well as the regional FSB.

It was found that a 32-year-old resident of the Khabarovsk region used electricity for three months. He installed an additional circuit breaker in the transformer substation, which made it possible to use the resource around the clock in significant volumes, bypassing metering devices. During the search, almost 220 miner devices were seized.

The suspect has already paid damages, the report says. The maximum penalty under this article is up to five years in prison.
