“The analysis by regions shows that the increase in mortality in the current year was the highest in the regions of Lori – 22%, Gegharkunik – 15% and Vayots Dzor – 10%. In Tavush and Syunik, the death rate decreased by 3%, while it remained almost unchanged in the capital.

In the structure of mortality, as in previous years, the leading causes of death are diseases of the circulatory system – 55%, neoplasms – 15%, diseases of the respiratory organs – 10% and COVID-19 – 8%.
At the same time, if by 2022, deaths due to COVID-19 were reduced by 31%, then those from diseases of the circulatory system increased by 10%, and those from respiratory diseases – by 33%. Deaths are also correspondingly higher compared to the 2018-2020 average, with 19% from circulatory system diseases and 18% from respiratory diseases.

Excess mortality also persists in the countries of the European Union, but it has decreased from 23.4% in December 2021 to 7.4% in February 2022 (comparable to the data of February 2021: 6.1%).

In the first three months of the current year, the mortality rate of children aged 0-1 years had a positive trend, which decreased by 9% compared to the same period last year, and by 7% compared to the average rate of 2018-2020.
