The mountain trackers ensure the safety of the skiers and prepare the slopes, well before they are stormed during the day.

AT La Pierre Saint-Martin (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), one of the pleasures of the tracker is to be up there, before everyone else, and enjoy the landscape. On the morning of February 9, Laurent Laude, ski patroller-rescuer, brings skiers for an activity called “Premières traces”. The objective is to show his profession and talk about security, while checking the state of the domain. A little lower, Laurent Laude must mark out in front of stones, at the edge of the track.

Ensure the safety of skiers

“We have two, three stones that stand out, so we will report them”, explains the tracker. Milestones to be replanted, signage to be adapted… This morning phase is essential for skiers to descend the slopes in complete safety. Customers appreciate this educational break. “We are the first on the track, but the job of tracker is really very interesting. I think it’s great that they are opening it up to tourists”rejoices a skier.
