As the “Delfi” portal writes, E. Jagelavičius stood independently in the elections in the single-mandate district. And although he was late in submitting certain documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC), his name can be found among other candidates of the Lithuanian People’s Party. According to the portal, E. Jagelavičius has been living in Belarus since 2022, as he is suspected and wanted by Lithuanian law enforcement for acting with other states against Lithuania, as well as for providing false information to the institution.
On his part, party leader E. Vaitkus, when asked how E. Jagelavičius, who had gone to Belarus to seek asylum and has been living there for several years, ended up on the election list, did not comment too much on the situation, but noted that the party’s election program and E. Jagelavičius’s views coincide.
“In order to be on the list, one must agree with the tasks and goals expressed by E. Vaitkaus during the presidential election campaign and the tasks raised now in the Seimas elections. The first task is that Lithuania is not sold or surrendered”, E. Vaitkus told the portal.
ELTA reminds that in the 2020 Seimas elections, the Lithuanian People’s Party received 0.25 percent. voters’ votes.
