ANCONA. There are 11 cases of Dengue confirmed in the Marche region, in particular in the Fano area and one in San Costanzo, also in the province of Pesaro Urbino: one infected person has a travel history in an endemic area and another, in Fano, is a pregnant mother now hospitalized at the Salesi maternal and child hospital in Ancona. The Region has activated all public health measures.
The Municipalities of Fano and Ancona have started pest control activities in their respective cities. After Asur Marche reported a confirmed case of Dengue involving a citizen from Fano and hospitalized at Salesi, the Local Health Authority of Ancona, based on the National Plan for Prevention, Surveillance and Response to Arboviruses, informed the Mayor of Ancona of the need to carry out a disinfestation in the area around the hospital where the patient is hospitalized. The intervention will be carried out by a specialized company appointed by the Municipality, within a radius of about 200 meters around Salesi, at night within 24 hours of the end of the rain and wind.
Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon the Region met Regional Operations Group for Emergencies Health (Gores) following the confirmed cases of Dengue. The Pesaro Urbino Local Health Authority has implemented the planned public health actions: raising awareness among local and hospital doctors, instructing the Municipality to implement targeted disinfestation interventions, possible positioning of capture traps of mosquitoes to verify the effectiveness of the disinfestation”.
