If you can’t go to the Post Office, then it comes to you… Since July 17, that’s what’s been happening in the Morvan. For the second year, La Poste has decided to set up two temporary offices. In the morning, right next to the Bibracte museum, at Mont Beuvray between the Saône-et-Loire and the Nièvre; and in the afternoon, on the shores of Lac des Settons (Nièvre).

Karine Durand, the postwoman of Château-Chinon holds the ephemeral office until August 11 – because “it is the period when there are the most tourists” – is delighted with the interest shown by visitors. “They can also pay by bank card, even if sometimes you have to try twice, for lack of a powerful enough network”. At Lac des Settons in the afternoon, where there are more tourists, it’s easier, “because there is a network”.

“It’s the time of year when I send the most mail”

The least we can say is that tourists are surprised by this postal presence. Surprised, but delighted. Because at the time of SMS and MMS or videos on the networks, the postcard still has its followers.

“I love receiving cards from family or friends, so I send a lot too. A good fortnight. It’s the time of year when I send the most mail, “says Marylène, in her fifties, who came from Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine) to introduce her grandchildren, Sandy 12 and Soann 9 , “Le Beuvray, where Vercingetorix unified the Gauls”. Her husband Gilbert adds: “And where Caesar began to write his memoirs”.

Rosenn, who came with her family from Brittany, took advantage of this ephemeral office to buy a few envelopes with the Bibracte museum in the picture. They are sold for 1.36 euros each by post. A summer souvenir available only during this holiday period.
