International. The UN General Assembly will meet on Thursday to discuss the war sparked by Hamas’ attack on Israeli soil. While the Security Council failed to agree on a resolution concerning this war, several States, notably Jordan on behalf of the Arab group, Russia, Syria, Bangladesh and even Vietnam and the Cambodia, have formally requested General Assembly President Dennis Francis to schedule this meeting.
Culture. Asterix returns: the 40th album of his adventures, “The White Iris”, which comes out Thursday, shows him skeptical of a new philosophy coming from Rome. Asterix’s enemy is a philosopher-guru character adept at “positive thinking” called Vicevertus. “L’Iris blanc” (48 pages, 10.50 euros in France) is published simultaneously in 20 languages, with more than five million copies.
