In the Orenburg region, 21 people died from the use of surrogate alcohol, the regional Ministry of Health said. Another 28 people were injured. Earlier it was known about 18 dead.
“A total of 49 (victims. – “B”), of which 21 were fatal, ”the press service of the Ministry of Health told TASS.
All the victims live in the eastern districts of the Orenburg region, said Tatyana Savinova, vice-governor and minister of health of the region. “We have five hearths. Unfortunately, in the last hours, patients from the city of Orsk have been actively arriving, ”she said.
Two criminal cases were initiated under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of more than two persons by negligence). The governor of the region Denis Pasler ordered to check all outlets for the sale of counterfeit goods.
