In the Piagge condominium where talents are sown

by time news

Alle Piagge an artistic initiative is contributing to the rehabilitation of the neighborhood. This is the “ilPrisma” project that he has recently inaugurated Millet’s Sower, a new exhibition inside a social housing building. The halls of the «ship» in via Sala 2h host five artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, one on each floor within a path that develops vertically. The title, just like a painting, reflects on the gesture of sowing as an act of hope, capable of renewing life by continually opening new cycles and seasons. The exhibition therefore presents an invitation: sow Art. And, after all, the founders of “ilPrisma” are dedicating themselves to just this.

Emiliano Anselmo and Sebastiano Benegiamo inaugurated the condominium project in June 2021 with the Géricault’s raft which had a large sounding board, so much so that it was defined “the most beautiful exhibition in Florence” by the art critic Tomaso Montanari. The two founders collect the success and leave even more motivated with Bomberz!, an exhibition dedicated to five exponents of Florentine urban art, including Exit Enter and Moradi il Sedicente. And now the third, the one with the longest gestation. “We started designing it in October, they are all unpublished works and each of them offers a different reading of a gesture that is part of our daily life” says Emiliano who is also satisfied with the consent received by the numerous visitors: “many have appreciated the social value of the initiative which opens up new opportunities for the future of this area of the Florentine periphery ». The ambition is in fact to expand the cultural offer of Le Piagge, investing in this sector to transform it into a new attractive resource, strictly dedicated to art. A direction that could prove fruitful for the inhabitants of the area and, at the same time, functional to the delocalization of the tourist flow that pours into the historic center every day.

The curatorship of the exhibition is signed by Adriano Bimbi and Cristoforo Maria Lippi, the first is a former painting teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, the second is based in Venice where he plays the role of production manager for Gad – Giudecca Art District . Cristoforo’s texts introduce the visitor to the search for the five protagonists of Millet’s Sower. On the first floor there is Nicoletta Gemignani with objects and details of everyday domestic life; she goes up to the second with Dasha Vigori Oussova who combines the gesture of sowing with the idea of care and growth; halfway through, the relationship between man and nature is deepened by Angela D’Ospina; then on the fourth, Giuseppe Amorim Esposito plays with memories and the photo album; the path finally ends with the emotional landscapes of Gemma Mazzotti. The artistic sowing is already well advanced. Now it’s about taking care of it and reaping the rewards. But the process is still long. The intervention in the condominium needs time to win over the residents and citizens of the neighborhood, “some people who live here have not yet seen the entire exhibition, they are not very interested” confesses Emiliano, however, saying he is confident about the long-term prospects . For those who have not yet faced this new reality, the exhibition can be visited until 31 July on the weekend from 5 to 7 pm by appointment via the number 380.2361028.
