The wife of the country’s president, Michal Herzog, was the guest of honor at the historic performance of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Abu Dhabi, when for the first time the national anthem, Hatikva, was played on the soil of an Arab country.

This evening, almost 74 years since the last time the orchestra performed in Arab countries, since their visit to Cairo, Egypt in 1945, the wife of President Michal Herzog was hosted by the orchestra’s historic performance at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed and the Minister of Culture Nora Al Kaabi, and under the direction of the musical director Lahav Shani.

The concert opened with the orchestra playing the national anthem Hatikva, in a moving performance that touched the hearts of those present.

“I am excited to take part in a historic and groundbreaking event, which represents a new leap in the warm relationship between our countries, and this time on the cultural level, led by one of our most important cultural symbols – the Israel Philharmonic,” said the wife of the country’s president, Michal Herzog.
