According to the department, the incident occurred on October 8 at about 16:10 local time (15:10 Moscow time) in the vicinity of the village of Maryevka. The traffic police officers drew attention to the KamAZ, which was making dangerous maneuvers on the highway, and demanded that the driver stop the car. However, he ignored the request of the police and tried to hide. When the driver escaped pursuit, he violated traffic rules and created “a real threat to other road users,” it was reported.

When the truck drove away from the village, the traffic police officers used service weapons to stop the car.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that a drunk man born in 1985 was driving the KamAZ. He refused to undergo a medical examination. The man was repeatedly brought to administrative and criminal liability for such crimes, the department said. Less than a week before the incident, a criminal case was opened against him under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code (driving while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or with a criminal record). The maximum punishment for her is three years in prison.
