In the United States conducted tests of a hypersonic missile

The Office of Advanced Research Projects of the US Department of Defense (DARPA), together with the country’s Air Force, tested a hypersonic missile, follows from a publication on the DARPA website.

The tests took place last week, and the US Department of Defense found them successful. The rocket, manufactured by Raytheon Technologies, was launched from an airplane. The rocket’s ramjet engine, manufactured by Northrop Grumman, propelled it to over Mach five.

“All the main tasks of testing have been completed,” the message says.

In April this year, CNN reported on unsuccessful tests of hypersonic weapons in the United States. As part of the tests, the B-52H Stratofortress bomber took off from Andrews Air Force Base in California to launch a prototype AGM-183A hypersonic missile over the Pacific Ocean. “The test rocket was unable to complete the launch sequence and remained on the plane that returned to Edwards AFB,” the statement said.

The CNN publication noted that by 2023 the Pentagon hopes to arm ground forces with it, including in Europe, in connection with Washington’s withdrawal from the INF Treaty in August last year.
