They question the result of the 2020 presidential election in the United States. More than 100 Republican candidates were elected in the US midterm elections on Tuesday, according to US media projections.

Some of the candidates who supported these theories propagated by Donald Trump despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary have however been defeated, such as the candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, Doug Mastriano.

These unfounded accusations of alleged massive fraud in the 2020 elections have spread within the Republican Party thanks to repeated statements by the former Republican president, who still does not recognize his defeat against Democrat Joe Biden.

Victoire de Marjorie Taylor Greene

Nearly 300 Republicans supporting these conspiratorial theses were candidates for national and local seats, according to a Washington Post count.

And overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, more than 140 of them were elected to the House of Representatives, the Senate and to local leadership positions. Among the latter, some, such as the Secretaries of State, will notably be in charge of electoral operations.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, an elected Republican from Georgia known for her excesses, was notably re-elected, and Katie Britt won a Senate seat in Alabama.

This fringe of Republicans, however, suffered a setback with the defeat of Doug Mastriano against Democrat Josh Shapiro, elected governor in the key state of Pennsylvania.

Kari Lake, gubernatorial candidate in Arizona and a major figure in this movement close to Donald Trump, was still awaiting the results in the Grand Canyon state.
