According to her source in Congress, the agreement provides for the extension of funding for some government agencies until March 8, others until March 22. On February 25, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said lawmakers were unable to reach bipartisan agreements on a bill to continue funding the federal government. According to Schumer, the shutdown, which could partially begin as early as March 1, would jeopardize the American economy and security.
On January 19, US President Joe Biden signed a bill approved by both houses of Congress to extend funding for some federal government structures until March 1 and others until March 8. It, like the previous initiative signed by the president on November 17, 2023, did not mention assistance to Ukraine and Israel.
