Mumbai: The accused in the Varappuzha Rape Case, who was absconding in Maharashtra, was beaten to death and thrown into a well. Vinod Kumar was killed. On Monday, Vinod Kumar was found dead in a well in Kashid village in Raigad. The body was lying on a rock. He was working at a resort in the area. Maharashtra police have taken two people into custody in the incident. None of these have reached adulthood. The accused are from a nearby tribal colony. Police said a dispute over alcohol led to the murder. Vinod Kumar’s body was cremated in Maharashtra itself.

Kochi: Sabu M Jacob, the party’s chief coordinator, said that Deepu’s murder was a premeditated murder. The CPM activists came there to beat Deepu, not to collect buckets. Sabu said he was ambushed while walking through houses in the colony to talk about the census. It was a professional attack. He was tortured internally with no external injuries. When the ward member reached the spot, Deepu was pushed against the wall and beaten. Sabu said that Deepu’s death was due to internal injuries.
Even Deepu’s neighbors are afraid to react against the MLA. If anyone responds, they are being threatened. Ninety percent of the posters of the census were torn down. After PV Sreenijan became an MLA, 50 of their activists were attacked. He said that theirs was a party moving forward in the Gandhian style. For the past ten months, there has been no law and order situation in the East Coast and in the panchayats ruled by Twenty20. Officials in the panchayats and departmental offices work under the direction of the MLA. If someone does not obey, they are threatened. There were several obstacles to take the work of Kizhakambalam panchayat forward. He went ahead with the Street Light Challenge because the panchayats demanded it. Ours is a Gandhian approach. He said nothing had been done in violation of the law.
The census was peaceful. The militant group has been in touch with Sreenijan MLA before and after the execution. Sreenijan MLA is the first accused in the case. Sreenijan promotes violence by using political force and influence in the courts. Sabu alleged that no one even had the courage to complain. Sabu criticized the MLAs and goons for playing games in all the four panchayats. The MLA has not benefited from five paise in 10 months. Sabu also accused Deepu of being a victim of power being given to those who do not deserve it.
