Today, Saturday, in the capital, Tripoli, the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, opened the work of the first conference of military intelligence leaders of Libya’s neighboring countries, in the presence of official delegations from Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad, and Niger.
The Libyan attendance included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense for Regions and Military Affairs, Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Haddad, and his assistant, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush, in addition to a number of military leaders.
In his speech, the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, described the conference “as an essential step towards strengthening security and intelligence cooperation between neighboring countries,” noting that the conference is being held at a time when there is an escalation in security challenges, especially terrorism, smuggling, and illegal cross-border activities. “.
Al-Dabaiba also affirmed, “Libya’s commitment to strengthening its internal stability and contributing to the security of the region, stressing that Libyan lands will not be an arena for settling regional or international scores, and will not turn into a haven for outlaw elements.”
During his opening speech, the head of Libyan Military Intelligence, Major General Mahmoud Hamza, welcomed the participating delegations, stressing that “holding this conference reflects a joint commitment to strengthening regional security and stability.” He explained that Libya faces challenges that require effective regional cooperation, especially in light of the rapid transformations taking place in the region.
For their part, the heads of the participating delegations expressed their appreciation for Libya’s initiative to host the conference, stressing the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to confront common threats, including combating terrorism, controlling borders, and confronting smuggling networks that affect the security and stability of neighboring countries.
“The first day of the conference will witness intense discussions on mechanisms for strengthening regional partnership and developing practical plans for security and intelligence coordination between neighboring countries, with the aim of laying the foundations for future cooperation in confronting common security challenges.”
