The market cap of the hospitality company Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) which runs it has reached Rs 1 lakh crore. It has become the first Indian hospitality company to touch this market cap. In this sector, Oberoi Hotel is the second most valuable company in the country with about Rs 24,000 crore.

Huge boom in hospitality sector after covid

Companies in the sector are scaling new valuation heights as travel booms post-Covid. India’s largest airline (by domestic market share) IndiGo achieved the milestone of Rs 1 lakh crore market cap last June. IndiGo’s market cap may soon double, as it is currently over Rs 1.9 lakh crore.

Its hotels have four brands
IHCL has achieved the market cap of Rs 1 lakh crore last week. The company is adding hotels across India. It currently has four brands, Taj, Selections, Vivanta and Gateway. IHCL currently has a portfolio of 340 hotels, of which 112 hotels are operating in 13 countries across four continents. Incorporated by Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata, its first hotel – the Taj Mahal Palace was opened in Bombay in 1903.
