Two days after the launch of the “Zero Fireworks” operation at stations of the Mass Transportation System (STC) Metro, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) seized 94 kilos 850 grams of fireworks.
The seized material was sent aboard a specialized vehicle to the Cuauhtémoc station for safekeeping. Meanwhile, three people were transferred to the Civic Court for transporting flammable material easily combusted in the transport network.

On the occasion of the national holidaysthe SSC implemented the “cometa 2024 operation” with the participation of 9,630 police officers to inhibit the sale of fireworks during the celebrations.
In order to reduce the movement of fireworks on the transportation network during the week of celebrations, officials established checkpoints at stations on Metro Lines 1, 2 and 3.

Additionally, the STC maintains the “Zero Fireworks” device, to reinforce surveillance at stations close to buying and selling points, such as Merced, Candelaria and Jamaica, among others.
The transport agency explained that the objective is to avoid possible risks to users, in addition to carrying out a measure of Civil defense on the occasion of the September celebrations.
