The head of the State Inspectorate for Control in the Field of Informatization and Telecommunications of Uzbekistan (Uzkomnazorat) Golibsher Ziyayev was removed from office after restricting access to several popular social networks in the country. This was reported by the press service of the government of the republic.

The measures against Ziyaev were taken due to “ill-considered and uncoordinated actions” of Uzkomnazorat, the report said. The press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov wrote in his Telegram channel that access to all social networks will be restored “soon.”

In addition, restrictions on the work of Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Telegram, LinkedIn, Odnoklassniki and Moi Mir social networks were lifted, it follows from the ministry’s data. Earlier, these social networks were included in the register of violators of the country’s law on personal data.

The legislation of Uzbekistan requires that the personal data of citizens of the country be stored on its territory, therefore all Internet services are required to place their servers on the territory of the republic.

Earlier, for violations of this requirement in the country, users’ access to social networks and messengers Twitter, TikTok, Skype, VKontakte and WeChat was limited.
