New scenes of violence, four days after the death of Nahel, 17, shot dead by the police in Nanterre. On the night of Friday June 30 to Saturday July 1, a rioter is suspected of having fired a long gun at police officers in the town of Vaulx-en-Velin, in the Lyon suburbs. At least 994 people were arrested overnight, according to the latest report from the Interior Ministry, including 406 in Paris and its suburbs, said a police source consulted by AFP. Some 1,350 vehicles were set on fire, 234 buildings were set on fire or damaged and 2,560 fires recorded on public roads, according to Place Beauvau, figures in sharp decline compared to those of the previous night.
