In Versailles, the future of the Trianon Palace hangs on that of businessman Michel Ohayon

by time news

What do Camaïeu, Go Sport and the Trianon Palace in Versailles (Yvelines) have in common? These three brands belong to businessman Michel Ohayon. The first went bankrupt last year. The second has just been placed in receivership, due to the financial difficulties of its owner.

As for the famous 5-star hotel in Versailles, it could experience some hectic weeks. The splendid 200-room building has belonged since 2014 to the “Financière immobilière bordelaise”, the businessman’s holding company, which was also placed in receivership on February 15th…

“The future of the Trianon is uncertain from a business point of view, we don’t really know what the administrators will decide, but in the event of compulsory liquidation, the establishment could change owners. I say owner, not manager, ”analyzes a source in the economic community.

Little threat to employment

The precision is important: if the “walls” belong to Michel Ohayon, the hotel is operated by the powerful Hilton group which has a turnover of nearly… 9 billion euros. A good financial health which should reassure the 200 or so employees of the 5-star hotel.

“For employment to be threatened, in the event of a liquidation, the hotel would have to be put up for sale and no one would have to acquire the establishment. It is unlikely. Versailles is a brand known around the world and buyers will be scrambling to buy the place,” said another connoisseur.

More than a century old, the Trianon is attached to the park of the Palace of Versailles. Proof of its prestige, it regularly hosts the “greening” of major sports teams. The English rugby players had stayed there during the World Cup organized in 2007 in France. And this year, it is those from Wales who will be packing their bags there in September and October for the 2023 edition of the tournament.
