Saint Stephen’s Day is celebrated every year on August 20 in Hungary, one of the European countries. The day celebrates the establishment of the country’s first government and is a national holiday there. Thus let the celebrations all over the country on St. Stephen’s Day. In particular, the spectacular firework displays held on the banks of the Dunbe River in the capital city of Budapest are very famous on the night of St. Stephen’s Day, which was celebrated on the 20th. But just hours before the event, the National Weather Service announced that heavy rain was expected in Budapest. Subsequently, the government canceled the fireworks display. People who were waiting to see the fireworks were disappointed. But as reported by Meteorological Department, it did not rain in Budapest. This led to protests and dissatisfaction among Hungarians that the National Meteorological Center was unable to provide accurate weather forecasts. The National Weather Service apologized to the public on social media for the inaccurate forecast. However, the government sacked 2 senior meteorologists of the Meteorological Center in this matter.
