The opening ceremony of the 2-day West Zone Level Volleyball Tournament was held at Nambiur Kumuda School Ground, Erode District.
The function was presided over by KA Janakaratnam, Principal of Kumuda School and Chairman of the Committee. Kumuda School Secretary Dr. Aravindan, Deputy Secretary Dr. Malini, Associate Director Sukanti took the lead.
Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association General Secretary Martin Sudhakar was the special invitee.
He later told reporters:
8 district teams in each zone participated in the zonal level volleyball tournament held in 4 zones in Tamil Nadu and played in league and knockout mode. The top 4 winning teams in the volleyball competition will be selected and they will participate in the state level volleyball championship tournament to be held in Chennai next month.
Ariyalur, Nagercoil, Vellore and Erode zone level competitions have been held for this competition. Teams from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Salem and other districts are participating in the tournament in Erode district.
The players who participate in this competition and perform well in the state level competition will be selected for the Tamil Nadu team.
