Inaugurated in the presence of the Finnish Ambassador to Morocco, Marjaana Sall and the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom, Puneet Talwar, as well as other actors from the public and private sectors, this innovation center is equipped with advanced technologies covering fixed, IP and optical networks throughout Nokia’s network infrastructure portfolio, indicates a press release from the ministry, noting that these infrastructures have been tested and developed by Moroccan skills and engineers before being exported to markets in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
The center plays a key role in developing digital skills, supporting 5G readiness and stimulating innovation across the EMEA region, it is specified.
Likewise, the center strengthens Nokia’s presence in the ICT ecosystem in Morocco by supporting scholarship programs and offering practical training to engineering schools and universities, in addition to certifications for the benefit of some 500 students. over the next three years.
On this occasion, Ms. Mezzour said that “the opening of the Nokia Innovation Center in Morocco demonstrates our country’s ability to attract leading technology companies and encourage innovation on the African continent, by relying mainly on the skills and experiences of Moroccan engineers in this area”, noting that this center will strengthen “our position as a regional hub for digital services across the EMEA region”.
The various initiatives that the Kingdom has seen in terms of digitalization are an embodiment of the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI, who called for the development of technical infrastructures capable of supporting the rapid development of the digital sector.
On the sidelines of the opening of the new innovation center, Ms. Mezzour learned about recent innovations from “Nokia”, specially designed for major sporting events, with a particular focus on football.
