Incidents at the Stade de France: the sports minister wants to “learn lessons from all this”

by time news

Almost a month has passed since the serious incidents that spoiled the party at the Stade de France, on the sidelines of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid (0-1). If from the Senate to the governing bodies of European football, assessments have been drawn up and responsibilities debated, the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Amélie Oudéa-Castéra has drawn her own observation on the course of this sad evening.

“It was a painful episode for everyone. We want it never to happen again, she assured Sunday on RMC on the sidelines of the Olympic day organized in Seine-Saint-Denis. We have been extraordinarily hard at work in recent weeks, all state services, teams mobilized for major events, to learn all the lessons from all this. I think we showed with the Nations League football matches and the Top 14 final, which was itself complicated due to transport, that we started to rectify the situation. »

“Rebuilding everyone’s trust, including abroad”

The minister ensures that everything is in place in the government to restore the image of France abroad, terribly damaged by the fiasco of the Stade de France. “We are able to accommodate a very full stadium with 80,000 people and that everything is going well”, proclaims Oudéa-Castéra while the country is to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023 and the Olympics in 2024.

“We will continue to demonstrate again, that we are capable, that we know how to deliver an irreproachable organization and rebuild the confidence of everyone, including abroad, in other events. Safety is a top priority. We have a Ministry of the Interior which is very close to us on these issues to mobilize all the internal security forces. It is the combination of all these forces that will create this security environment. »
