Income Tax Department Raids Properties Associated with Public Works Minister EV Velu Veedu

For the past five days, more than 200 Income Tax officials have been conducting raids on the properties of Public Works Minister EV Velu Veedu, his college, his son Kampan Veedu and places associated with them in Thiruvannamalai. The raids have been carried out in two tempo vehicles and 20 cars, with a police escort from the Central Reserve Force.

One of the locations targeted by the Income Tax Department was the Tiruvannamalai Arunai Medical College campus. At the conclusion of the investigation, the allegedly seized money was transported in two sealed suitcases to the State Bank of India head office at Anna Road, Tiruvannamalai for deposit.

Minister AV Velu, who met with reporters in Thiruvannamalai, denied any involvement with the money seized during the raid. He stated that the money did not belong to his family, and he had not taken a single penny from his home, his wife’s home, or his son’s home.

The minister emphasized that he comes from a farming background and has gradually built his business, representing the people of Tiruvannamalai for six consecutive terms. Minister AV Velu also denied any connection to the Abbasami company and claimed that he did not know the owner of Casa Grand.

In response to the raids, Minister AV Velu expressed his determination to continue working within the boundaries of the law and not be deterred by the ongoing investigations.

The minister accused the Income Tax Department of conducting the raids to hinder his electoral efforts and win 40 out of 40 parliamentary elections. He also condemned the alleged mistreatment of his interview assistant during the raid.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Minister AV Velu vowed to continue his activities and not be dissuaded by the raids. While addressing the media, he also emphasized that he did not hold any animosity towards the officials conducting the raids and expressed his commitment to abiding by the law.
