The Institute of Social Security and Services of State Workers (ISSSTE) is stepping up its efforts to enhance healthcare in Oaxaca. **This includes boosting the number of consultations and surgeries to improve services for 248,725 beneficiaries, a move announced during a recent visit by the General Director, Martí Batres Guadarrama.**

During his visit to the Family Medicine Clinic with specialties and operating room in Oaxaca, Martí Batres Guadarrama outlined three main objectives for the medical and administrative staff. These goals include increasing the number of consultations, boosting the number of surgeries, and strengthening the treatment provided to the unit’s beneficiaries.

Focus on Improvement

Martí Batres, accompanied by Juan Gerardo López Hernández, the Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Benefits of the ISSSTE, emphasized the importance of improving staff working conditions. This is being achieved through a voluntary program that extends working hours up to eight hours, along with salary adjustments for administrative staff and social workers, all to reduce waiting times.

“There are three labor measures that we have now taken to improve working conditions,” he said. “We made the call for those who wanted to go from six to eight hours. That improves working conditions, increases income, benefits, the retirement base; but it also helps us because we have, as an institution, more hours to serve the right-handed.”

Commitment to Quality

The ISSSTE General Director, along with Víctor Hugo Bautista Hernández, the Deputy Director of Health Prevention and Protection, oversaw the operations of the unit. The unit is equipped with 12 general medicine offices, five specialty offices, a pharmacy, an operating room, X-ray facilities, and a laboratory.

“I want to thank you for your work here at the Clinic. Your delivery is very important for an institution such as ISSSTE to go ahead, which is an institution that has a very noble nature because it refers to social rights, to begin with, health,” he concluded.

The Family Medicine Clinic in Oaxaca has already increased its capacity. The number of consultations rose from 9,560 per month in 2024 to 12,409 in 2025, across specialties like internal medicine, gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, traumatology and orthopedics, and psychiatry.
