79.37 lakh passengers have flown in Chennai-South zone airports in August through 63 thousand 795 flight services.

There are a total of 153 airports in the country, including 29 international airports and 114 domestic airports. Apart from this, there are 10 customs airports and private airports. There are 24 international and domestic airports in the southern region, which includes Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Puducherry and Lakshadweep. Out of 63 thousand 174 flight services in August, 79.37 lakh passengers were flown. It was 43 thousand 682 flights and 42.32 lakh passengers in August 2021. Similarly, the amount of cargo handled at South Zone airport warehouses has declined from 89 thousand 109 tons to 86 thousand 795 tons.
