Tehran: Human rights organizations report an increase in executions in Iran.

Iran recently executed four Iranians for working with Israeli intelligence. In this regard, Iran’s Department of Justice website said, “Four people who worked with Israel’s intelligence department were arrested in May. All four have been hanged. Also, the three who were a threat to the country’s security have been sentenced to imprisonment (5-10 years),” it said.

In this situation, compared to other countries except China, Iran Human Rights Organization (IHR) has accused that the Iranian government has executed 20 people who participated in the anti-hijab protest recently.

In Iran, such death sentences are said to be carried out targeting ethnic and religious minorities such as the Kurds in the northwest, the Arabs in the southwest and the Baluch in the southeast. The media reported that 21% of those on death row in 2021 were from the Baloch minority in Iran. A total of 333 death sentences were carried out in Iran in 2021. This is 25% more than the previous year.
