Increase in expatriate money flow in the country, Finance Minister released the figures

by time news

Crores flowed into the country from expatriates last year. According to the latest figures, last year saw an increase of 12 percent in NRI remittances. With this, in 2022, non-resident Indians sent to the country 100 billion dollars or 8,17,915 crore rupees. The figures were released by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention held in Indore.

Most of the money has come to India mainly from countries like US, UK, Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The increase in expatriate remittances was driven by the shift of more people from low-skilled informal jobs to higher-skilled, higher-paying jobs in the Gulf countries. With this, India has become the first country in the world to receive such a huge amount. The Finance Minister described NRIs as the ‘true ambassadors of India’.
