From the National Palace, the president explained that mainly in the Bajío area, there are family businesses dedicated to the manufacturing of their own products or brands, and imports without payment of taxes end up affecting these local economies.
“The export issue does not have certain taxes that are placed on imports, because then there are exports, when it is not actually exported, it is sold in the country“In reality, (it is a) trap and it affects all these family businesses,” he explained.
For this reason, President Sheinbaum insisted that the increase in tariffs on imported textiles is intended to protect the national industry: “What was done yesterday was to avoid this trap that is used, which is a form of corruption“, said.
