From Monday, Budapest taxi fares will increase by 10%.

The basic fee will increase from 1,000 to 1,100 forints, the kilometer fee from 400 to 440 forints and the minute fee from 100 to 110 forints. As reported, on the recommendation of Mayor Gergely Karácsony, the Metropolitan City Council modified the Taxi Ordinance on January 25. The reason given was that with the lifting of the price cap for fuel from the beginning of December 2022, taxi drivers will face enormous cost increases.
