Mayank Yadav while talking to Times of India said, ‘I was not aware of the selection. But I saw that my colleagues were getting calls to congratulate me. I just checked the BCCI website and came to know that my name was there. He further added, ‘Once I hung up the phone, I had flashbacks – from the day I first went to Sonet Club to the four months I spent at the NCA recovering from recurring minor injuries.’
Mayank Yadav also spoke about Gautam Gambhir
Mayank Yadav further in his statement also talked about Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir. He said, ‘Gautam Bhaiya once told me that there will be players who will get many chances to prove themselves and there will be some who will get only one chance. Despite being in the IPL team and playing for Delhi, I was struggling to find sponsors for my shoes. Gautam Bhaiya’s words stayed with me.
Mayank further said, ‘He (Gautam Gambhir) and Vijay Dahiya had clearly told me that I would get my first game after a year or two. When the opportunity comes this year, I have to do well in it. The day after my IPL debut, I got offers for my bowling shoes. As far as Morne is concerned, he doesn’t speak much. If he sees anything he will come and tell. He will mostly talk about strategies’.
