Kanpur: Teams of India and Bangladesh arrived on Tuesday for the second Test of the two-match series. The second Test match between the two teams will be played at Green Park Stadium from September 27. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said that the Indian and Bangladesh teams were taken from Chakeri airport to the hotel amid tight security. He said that both the teams will hold separate practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday at Green Park Stadium, which is about one and a half kilometers away from their hotel. Players of both the teams were given a grand welcome on their arrival at a five-star hotel. The Additional Commissioner of Police said that tight security arrangements have been made inside and around the hotel where they will stay. He said, ‘Around 2,000 policemen have been deployed for the security of the teams and VVIPs. Tight security arrangements have also been made at Green Park Stadium. More than 1,000 policemen have been deployed inside and around the stadium for the match.’
An official said on the condition of anonymity, “We are not taking any risk regarding security and the teams have also been asked to strictly follow the guidelines. Team members have been asked to give advance information before leaving the hotel.” The official said that they are coordinating with central and state agencies, including Intelligence Bureau (IB) and state intelligence agencies, to share information to deal with every threat.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to keep a strict vigil on social media platforms, warning that anyone trying to disturb the peace will be dealt with strictly. Green Park Stadium and Hotel Land Mark have been divided into ‘sectors’, ‘zones’ and ‘sub-zones’ and their control has been given to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sub-Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police level officers respectively.
Kanpur East Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shravan Kumar Singh has been made the nodal officer for the entire event. Some changes have also been made in the traffic before the test match. ACP Harish Chander said that the Kotwali police has also registered an FIR against 20 members including Rakesh Mishra of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha’ for organizing a ‘havan’ by blocking the road in front of Green Park Stadium as a symbol of protest against the atrocities being committed on Hindus in Bangladesh.
The FIR was registered under sections 189 (2) (unlawful assembly), 191 (2) (rioting), 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 285 (obstructing or causing hurt to any person in any public way) of the Indian Penal Code, he said.
