New Zealand batsman Mitchell McClenaghan has lashed out at Team India for mocking Team India’s 1-0 victory in the second Test of the series against New Zealand in Mumbai. McLennan shared a sarcastic tweet after India’s huge win in the Mumbai Test. McLennan tweeted that he congratulated India on winning the series by defeating the ICC World Test champions at home.

But fans followed suit in response to McLennan’s tweet. True, one fan replied that it was like New Zealand winning the Test series at home and reaching the final of the World Test Championship and finally winning the final with the benefit of the rain. Another fan asked if India had won a Test match as world champions. Fan McLennan replied, “Oh, there’s no such thing.”

Meanwhile, a New Zealand fan responded to the Kiwis’ tweet. As a Kiwis fan, McLennan’s provocative tweet said he was disappointed, quoting New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as saying that when opponents beat their own team by their own strength, those defeats must be acknowledged as their own excellence.
