It is safe to say that India have got off to a great start with a five-match T20 series against South Africa on home soil. This was because India batted intimidatingly in the first match of the series, which started in Delhi on June 9, and scored 212 runs for the victory. India’s victory was also assured as South Africa, which had chased it down, stumbled at 81/3 at one point. But in the last 10 overs, the duo – Miller duo of Herschelle Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bowled quality bowlers and suffered a crushing 7-wicket defeat.
South Africa took a 1-0 lead early in the series with a shock defeat, using Rishabh Pund’s captaincy in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma and the Indian bowlers last time out. There is a main reason for this. This is because the last ODI in which India participated was in 2019 at this ground. Since then no international tournament has been held here for the last 3 years and the Odisha fans eagerly came straight to the support despite the web training to see the Indian players. If this is the case then maybe it’s time to dump her and move on.
