IND vs SL: Sri Lanka squad for T20 series against India announced, not Fernando or Mendis

Colombo: The Sri Lanka Cricket Team (India vs Sri Lanka) has been announced for the three-match T20 series against India starting next week. Ramesh Mendis, Nuwan Thushara and Avishka Fernando, who played in the T20 series against Australia, have been left out. All three were ruled out due to injuries. Charith Asalanka is the vice captain of the team led by Dasun Shanaka.

The 18-member squad includes Pathum Nisanka, Kushal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhanushka Gunathilaka. The first India-Sri Lanka T20 will be played in Dharamsala on Thursday. Lucknow will host the next two matches.

One of the most expensive players in the IPL, spin all-rounder Vanindu Hasaranga is also in the Sri Lanka squad. Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed Hazarenga for Rs 10.75 crore in the IPL star auction.

Sri Lanka will take on India after a 1-4 defeat in the T20 series against Australia. After losing the first four matches of the series, Sri Lanka regained their confidence by winning the last match. Meanwhile, India will face Sri Lanka in a complete victory in the T20 series against the West Indies.

The Indian squad for the T20 series against Sri Lanka, including Malayalee Sanju Samson, was announced yesterday. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will not be in the squad to be captained by Jaspreet Bumra. Sanju has been included in the squad as the wicket-keeper. With the sweep of the T20 series against the West Indies, India will face Sri Lanka at the top of the ICC T20 rankings.
