Chennai,

Omigron, identified in South Africa, is spreading in single digits in most countries of the world in a single week. This shows that they have spread to various countries, even before the medical study of South Africa was confirmed. The government is taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the mutated new corona virus P1.1.529, Omigron, in Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed additional restrictions on travelers from 12 countries to prevent the spread of the Omigron virus. The Department of Public Health has announced that travelers to Tamil Nadu from 12 European countries, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, China, Mauritius and Singapore, will be subjected to additional surveillance.

In this context, the rumor spread on the social networking site that schools in Tamil Nadu will be given indefinite leave again as the Omigron virus is likely to spread in India as well.

Explaining the situation, Education Minister Anbil Mahesh said, “The information released that schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu are on indefinite holiday due to the threat of Omigron spread.”
