At the heart of the Dar Al Karama Center in the rural commune of Aghbal, a space dedicated to children suffering from mental or physical disabilities has emerged. Carefully designed, this structure aims to facilitate the socio-economic integration of this category through a multitude of activities and services.

Cultural, sporting and recreational activities, physiotherapy, as well as educational courses are offered to 37 children, all supported within the framework of a partnership between the INDH and other actors.

The Center includes a medical observation room, a room dedicated to physiotherapy, and another to specialized education. This project, part of the second INDH program to support people in precarious situations, required an investment of nearly 800,000 dirhams, with a significant contribution from the territorial commune of Aghbal, of around 200,000 dirhams.

According to the head of the Social Action Division (DAS) in the province of Berkane, Mohamed Mimouni, this project specifically targets children with disabilities in rural areas, particularly in the local authorities of Aghbal, Laatamna, and Fezouan.

The objective is to offer these children a suitable space to practice enriching activities and acquire the necessary foundations to fully integrate into society, he added in a statement to MAP.

For her part, Meryem Boutahri, manager of the Dar Al Karama Center, highlighted the significant contribution of this structure, the result of a partnership between the INDH, the Berkane Provincial Council, and other stakeholders.

Likewise, she highlighted the association’s commitments, focused on improving the schooling conditions of children with disabilities. Thus, 37 children were able to benefit from various services, including transport, catering, in addition to other activities.

In addition to the services offered inside the center, the supervisory staff play a crucial role outside. It allows people with disabilities to receive palliative care at home, accompanies them to public hospitals and health centers, and helps them obtain medical follow-up. A mobile medical campaign, led by the Provincial Association supporting the health and social sectors, the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection, completes this system, working in concert with the Association which manages the center.

In 2023, no less than 26 projects have been carried out (or are being completed) in the province of Berkane, totaling an investment of 20.3 million dirhams, including 6.71 million dirhams as a contribution from the INDH .

These projects, all linked to the support and support program for people in precarious situations, embody a concrete commitment to the inclusion and well-being of vulnerable categories in the province of Berkane.
