INDH in Al Haouz: The health and well-being of mothers and children at the top of priorities

Indeed, the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the INDH, Saturday in Tahanaout (capital of the province of Al Haouz), under the theme “The first 1000 days of life, foundations of the future of our children” , was an opportunity to reaffirm the constant commitment carried by this reigning project in favor of maternal and child health.

Speaking on this occasion, the governor of Al Haouz province, Rachid Benchikhi, indicated that the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the INDH constitutes an opportunity to highlight the achievements accumulated by the Initiative and to renew the commitment of the various stakeholders in order to consolidate achievements, ensure their sustainability and foresee the future with greater will and optimism.

In this sense, he reported the completion of 1,156 projects at the provincial level during the period 2019-2023, for a total cost of around 422.9 million DH (MDH), including a contribution of the INDH of 393.3 MDH.

These projects, he continued, have significantly contributed to the improvement of development indicators, the achievement of social and territorial justice and the fight against precariousness.

As part of the promotion of maternal health, he indicated that more than 25,000 mothers in the province have benefited from the services of Dour Al Oumouma (Maternity Homes) which constitute eloquent examples of the effective contribution of INDH to efforts to reduce maternal mortality and improve health indicators in Al Haouz province.

Since its launch in 2005 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the INDH has paid particular attention to the strengthening of community health systems, through a set of projects which contribute to facilitating access for the population, particularly women and children, to various health benefits, underlined Mr. Benchikhi.

For his part, the head of the Social Action Division (DAS) at the prefecture of Al Haouz province, Mustapha Akhiyat presented the achievements of the INDH within the framework of Program 4, with a focus on health of mother and child.

The same goes for the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection who highlighted the communication strategy and the awareness, information and education activities carried out by the provincial delegation.

At the same time, testimonies were given by women community relays, a system established in the various municipalities of the province of Al Haouz, and which aims in particular to improve access to nutrition services and benefits. maternal, neonatal and child health.

At the end of this ceremony, the governor and the delegation accompanying him visited the Maternity Home (Dar Al Oumouma) in Asni, which benefited from major renovation and restoration work following the earthquake of September 8.

On this occasion, the governor handed over supplies and kits for the benefit of infants.
