The researchers collected and analyzed data on several criteria to determine the prevalence of type 1 diabetes in 2040. Data on the prevalence of type 1 diabetes in 97 countries in children, adolescents, and adults were also analyzed. Similarly, 65 countries with type 1 diabetes have been accounted for. Data from 37 countries with deaths from type 1 diabetes were also compared.
