Most of the cricketers are focused on limited overs cricket these days. Test cricket is neglected in comparison. The disinterest of the cricketers is basically the biggest reason behind this. That is why the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a groundbreaking step to increase interest in the traditional format of cricket. They have announced huge incentives for this version.

Despite falling behind in the five-match series against England, India came back brilliantly to win 4-1. BCCI secretary Jai Shah announced to give incentives to the cricketers after such a victory of the team. Later, the board also made a statement about the matter. Which is named, ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme.’

This incentive is only available to a cricketer when he plays more than 75 per cent Tests each season. A player’s match fee can increase up to 300 percent! The 2022-23 season is also covered under this incentive.

BCCI has given a list of additional income for 9 Tests in the season. A player who plays less than 50 per cent Tests (less than 4 matches) in a season will not receive this amount. Cricketers who play more than 50 percent of Tests (matches 5 and 6) will get Rs 30 lakh per match. Players who play more than 75 percent of Tests (7 or more matches) will get Rs 45 lakh per match.

Along with this incentive, the match fee remains at Rs 15 lakh. That is, if more than 75 percent of Tests are played in the season, a cricketer can earn 60 lakh rupees from match fee and additional money from one Test. Other players in the squad outside the XI will also get extra money.
