Hefazet Islam Bangladesh Claims India Fueling Minority Insecurity
Hefazet Islam Bangladesh, a radical Islamist group, has accused India of fueling insecurity among minorities in Bangladesh. In a statement on Sunday (August 11), the group’s leaders claimed that India and the government have historically benefited from the oppression of minorities in Bangladesh.
The statement alleges that recent anti-Bangladesh propaganda in India, spread by certain media and politicians, has instilled fear among minorities in Bangladesh. They claim that this propaganda is fueled by India’s support for fugitive Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who they accuse of remaining in power through undemocratic means.
Hefazet Islam leaders further claimed that despite these claims, minorities in Bangladesh enjoy greater benefits and security than their counterparts in India. They accused India of discriminatory policies and state-sponsored torture against the Muslim minority in their own country.
The statement concludes with a call for India to address its discriminatory practices and a condemnation of their alleged attempts to destabilize Bangladesh.
