Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this Saturday, October 14 that India will apply to host the 2036 Olympic Games. India is very excited about hosting Olympics » et « will spare no effort to organize them he said at a session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai. According to local media, the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat (north-west) would be in the running to be designated host city if the IOC decided to award it the organization. This would make India the fourth Asian nation to receive the honor after Japan, South Korea and China. The body must also confirm on October 16 the integration of cricket into the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the main innovation of the Olympic program which will then include more than 35 sports, a record in the history of the Games. The discipline is extremely popular in India where the World Championships are currently taking place, particularly in Ahmedabad and its immense stadium which can accommodate up to 130,000 spectators.
