The organizers have already informed the competitor that she will not be able to compete if she wears the Kosovo flag or its symbols. For this reason, she was not granted a visa.
– We applied for a visa in December, we get the same message every month. We have contacted all the relevant authorities, but there is no response from them, said Latif Demolji, who fought for the right to run for Sadiku.
Sadiku is not an accidental competitor. In 2022, she won a bronze medal in the European Championships and the same disc during the World Championships.
The Kosovo Ministry of Sports reacted sharply to the fact that Sadiku was not allowed to start in the world championships in India. On their official Facebook profile, there was a statement criticizing such behavior, which has nothing to do with sport.
The fighter herself is still fighting. She decided to record a special message in which she calls on the organizers of the World Cup to consider favorably her visa application.
“My name is Donjeta Sadiku. Due to the fact that I won medals at the World and European Championships last year, I was again denied the opportunity to represent my country. This decision is against the rules and regulations of the sport. The Kosovo Boxing Federation is a member of the World Boxing Federation since 2014” – she said, which can be seen in the video below.
The Women’s World Boxing Championships will be held in India from March 15-30, 2023.
